Super Bowl LV Preview/Predictions

We've been following the NFL season closely here at Russo's Playbook. It all comes down to this. In a season full of twists and turns due to Covid, it's only right we have Covid scares in the weeks leading up to the big game. Apparently the Chiefs' barber was allowed to start cutting players while still awaiting his test results, which ended up being Covid positive, leading to this hilarious new profile picture for Chiefs Center Daniel Kilgore.

Fortunately for the Chiefs, Kilgore will be able to play tonight. Which brings me to the injury reports.

For the Chiefs, tackle Eric Fisher & linebacker Willie Gay have been ruled out. As of the time I'm writing this, Chiefs receiver Sammy Watkins has been listed as questionable, but was a full participation in Friday's practice.

At the time of me typing this, Buccaneers receiver Antonio Brown and tight end Cameron Brate are both listed as questionable. AB had full participation in their practice on Friday so that's a good sign for him, while Brate did not participate in Friday's practice.

Everybody else on both sides seem to be a go for tonight's game. Pay attention to the questionable rulings as they may change closer to game time.

Here's predictions from our guys:

Brady vs Mahomes? You couldn't write a better script if you were J.K. Rowling. I mean seriously, first time a team plays a Super Bowl in their own stadium and of course it's Brady's team, in his first season with a new team nonetheless. Patty & the Chiefs going for back to back rings. Brady going for his SEVENTH. This is the perfect story book ending to an interesting NFL season. I think the game will be electric with a lot of big plays on offense, defense, as well as special teams. I'm going out on a limb & predicting that this will be Brady's last time taking the field as he walks off into the sunset with a 7th Super Bowl ring & a 5th Super Bowl MVP. What better way to end an amazing career for Brady? I've got the Bucs winning in a nail biter, 41-38. - Adam

This should be an amazing game between two great coaches, great players, and just two great teams all around. This is Big GOAT vs Baby GOAT. I think the Chiefs will come out firing and slow Tom Brady & the Bucs down at first, but as we've seen more times than not, that's all teams seem to be able to do in Super Bowls is slow Brady down, not stop him. I believe Brady will fight back and by the 4th quarter it'll be a shootout with the Chiefs eventually taking back control. With their high powered offense leading the way, I ultimately have the Chiefs winning 31-28, with Mahomes taking home the MVP trophy. - Nick

Let's be real here, trying to choose the winner of this Super Bowl is like asking a blind man to see again. I feel like I'm at gun point just writing this right now. How do you bet against Brady in a Super Bowl?? How do you bet against Pat Mahomes and the red hot Chiefs?? After two weeks of statistics, injury reports, and asking many opinions of others, I have to take the Bucs in a barn burner 38-34. I think we're going to have a high scoring Super Bowl with a big start from the Chiefs and an incredible chase from the Bucs. I like Tom Brady in the revenge game. I also believe that this is a different Bucs team than the one we saw lose to Mahomes and the Chiefs on November 29th. If it isn't 38-34, it'll be 28-24. Regardless, I have the Bucs by four points & Brady winning the MVP. Remember everybody; Bet safe & defense wins championships. - Hunter
