UFC Fight Night: Edwards v Muhammad Betting Guide
Updated: Mar 24
Hey folks it’s Keith, back with another UFC betting guide. Tonight, we’ve got Fight Night: Leon Edwards v Belal Muhammad. Dana White’s given us a solid slate for the event that we can make some money off of, and the main event already smells like fireworks. Hopefully we all wake up Sunday morning satisfied, whether as fans or bettors. Here’s how I think we achieve that:
Edwards -250 v Muhammad +210
Let’s kick it off with the main event. This is a great matchup all around. Not only are these two fighters extremely talented but they are also very intelligent. Their fight IQ is through the roof. Leon Edwards is currently ranked #3 in the welterweight division, behind Colby Covington and Gilbert Burns. Belal Muhammad sits at #13 in the division, but his odds in this fight are good at +210. This is for a few reasons: Leon Edwards hasn’t fought since July 2019. We’re going to bear witness to a tale as old as time: rest vs rust.
A year and a half is a long time away from the octagon and no amount of sparring can prepare you for the aggression and pressure of a live opponent. Leon Edwards will either come into this fight feeling fresher and healthier than he ever has, or his time away will have left him with some cobwebs. You can’t come into a fight with rust against a highly motivated Belal Muhammad. Since Leon Edwards last fought, Muhammad has gone 3-0. Muhammad wants to move his way up the division as quickly as possible and a victory against Edwards would do that for him.
Dana White has openly said that if Edwards wins, he gets a title shot. Belal Muhammad said he wants to steal that from him. He’s extremely intelligent, especially when it comes to applying pressure on his opponents. If Belal Muhammad sees an opening he’ll attack it until he can’t anymore, constantly applying pressure so his enemy can’t build their own offensive attacks. Being that Muhammad has won three fights since Edwards last fought, his cardio should be much better and accustomed to the pace of the fight. I’m taking Belal Muhammad to win this fight at +210, hoping to double what I put down.
A few more picks for the night:
Darren Stewart -175 v Eryk Anders +155
I like Eryk Anders here. As the line suggests, this will be an evenly matched fight, and at +155 I’m willing to take a chance on the underdog.
Angela Hill -360 v Ashley Yoder +275
I’m taking Angela Hill for this one. She’s a far better all around fighter and I can see her trapping Yoder in a clench against the cage for all 15 minutes of this fight. This fight probably won’t end in a finish, so if that’s the case Hill will amass enough control time to win on the cards. At -360 odds, I won’t be taking her straight as that isn’t a big enough payout unless you parlay it with something. -195 for a win by decision is far more appealing so that’s what I’ll be taking in this fight.
